A RESOLUTION HONORING ~HE ACHIEVEMENTS OF JAMES H. EPPERSON, <br />III, A RECIPIENT OF ~HE 1991 GOVERNOR'S AWARD FOR ANTI-DRUG <br />EFFORTS. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, James H. <br />1991 Governor's Award <br />prevention; and <br /> <br />Epperson, III is a recipient of the <br />for Anti-Drug Efforts in the category of <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Mr. Epperson's accomplishments have <br />distinguished him as a citizen who has successfully addressed <br />the concerns and needs of his community; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, in November of 1990, Mr. Epperson assisted in <br />making available a three bedroom house in Fairwood Homes, rent <br />and utility free and helped establish the "D.A.R.E. (Drug <br />Abuse Resistance Education) House" as a community-based <br />auxiliary office for the Portsmouth Sheriff's Office; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, as a result of Mr. Epperson's concern and <br />involvement D.A.R.E. instructors are able to provide drug <br />education and alcohol abuse prevention information to the <br />residents of Fairwood Homes and the community; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Mr. Epperson's efforts have contributed to the <br />improvement of the image of the Fairwood Homes community and <br />the City of Portsmouth. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City <br />of Portsmouth, Virginia, that the Council does hereby express <br />its appreciation and pride in the achievements of Mr. James <br />H. Epperson, III. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be <br />spread upon the minutes of this Council and that a copy be <br />presented to Mr. Epperson in recognition of his achievements. <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia, at a meeting held January 14, 1992. <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
