15 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF APPRECIATION FOR DELEGATE WILLI~ S. MOORE, JR., <br />A MEMBER OF THE PORTSMOUTH DELEGATION TO THE VIRGINIA GENERAL <br />ASSEMBLY. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Portsmouth, Virginia recognizes the <br /> importance of the legislative actions of the Virginia General <br />Assembly and their impact on the operation of local government; <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council presented lecislative proposals <br /> for the 1993 General Assembly session that ~ould assist in the <br /> efficient operation of government; and <br /> WHEREAS, delegate William S. Moore, Jr. was instrumental in <br /> ensuring that City representatives were afforded an opportunity <br /> to discuss with state agency officials concerns regarding <br /> administrative regulations of the Portsmouth Waterworks System <br /> and Transportation needs, offering an amendment to provide <br /> $10,000 in state funding for the Virginia Soorts Hall of Fame, <br /> and is workinq to ensure that the City receives assistance from <br /> the state police to combat crime; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City recognizes the untiring efforts and <br /> dedication of Delegate William S. Moore, Jr. to ensure passage <br /> of bills introduced by other members of the Portsmouth <br /> Delegation to the Virginia General Assembly on its behalf; and <br /> WHEREAS, numerous bills, resolutions, and budget <br /> amendments were introduced by members of the General Assembly <br /> that affect local government; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS Delegate William S. Moore, Jr. embraced input from <br /> the City and provided the support needed to enhance the quality <br /> of life for our citizens. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City <br /> of Portsmouth, Virginia hereby extends its sincere appreciation <br /> and gratitude to Delegate William S. Moore, Jr. for a job well <br /> done. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be <br /> soread upon the minutes of this Council and that a copy be <br /> p~esented to Delegate William S. Moore, Jr. in recognition of <br /> our appreciation. <br /> Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia <br /> at a meeting held March 9, 1993. <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
