REGULATIONS FOR ADMINISTRATION <br /> <br />SECTION 1. Employees Classified <br /> <br />On and after July 1, ~993, all employees of the City of Portsmouth <br />shall be classified according to the kind and type of work performed <br />by them and as provided in this ordinance. <br /> <br />SECTION 2. Classification and Compensation <br /> <br />Ail officers and regular full-time and regular part-time employees <br />of the City, except those mentioned in Section 13 of this ordinance, <br />shall be classified and graded in accordance with the CLASSES OF <br />POSITIONS ASSIGNED fO PAY GRADES portion of this ordinance. The <br />compensation of each classified emplolee shall be determined <br />according to the PAY SCHEDULE portion and other sections ~f this <br />ordinance. <br /> <br />SECTION 3. Salary and Class Specification Administration <br /> <br />(a) <br /> <br />The Department of Employee Resources and Development shall <br />maintain a continuing salary administration program to insure <br />internal equity among position classifications. The salary <br />administration program sha].l include salary surveys, reclassi- <br />fications, audits, and analyses of turnover. <br /> <br />(b) <br /> <br />The Director <br />approve all <br />positions), or <br /> <br />of Employee Resources and Development shall <br />position reclassifications, additions (new <br />deletions prior to the action being taken. <br /> <br />When an employee is reclassified, they will be placed in the <br />new classification, grade, and step that maintains the <br />employee's current salary.
