AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 12 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF <br />PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA, 1988, BY AMENDING SECTION <br />12-179(1)a, THEREOF PERTAINING TO FINANCE. <br /> <br /> BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia: <br /> <br /> 1. That Section 12-179(1)a of the Code of the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia, 1988, be amended and reordained to read <br />as follows: <br /> <br />Section 12-179. <br /> <br />Non-discrimination provisions required in <br />certain contracts. <br /> <br /> Every contract in excess of Ten Thousand Dollars <br />($10,000.00)~ shall include the following provisions: <br /> <br /> (1) During the performance of this contract, the <br />contractor agrees: <br /> <br />That the contractor will not discriminate <br />against any employee or applicant for employment <br />because of race, religion, color, disability, <br />sex or national origin, except where religion, <br />sex or national origin is a bona fide <br />occupational qualification reasonably necessary <br />lo the normal operation of the contractor. The <br />contractor agrees to post in conspicuous places, <br />available to employees and applicants for <br />employment, notices setting forth the provisions <br />of this non-discrimination clause. <br /> <br /> 2.
