AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 16 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA (1988), BY AMENDING SECTIONS 16-64, 16-65 (a) AND (b), AND 16-66(b) THEREOF PERTAINING TO GARBAGE AND REFUSE. BE IT ORDAINED by the .Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia: 1. That Section 16-64 of the Code of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia (1988), be amended and reordained to read as follows: Section 16-64. Rates for dwelling units and certain other establishments. The service charge for the collection and disposal of trash and garbage from any dwelling unit and any other establishment not subject to the charges imposed by Section 16-65 shall be at the rate of eleven dollars ($11.00) per month per dwelling unit or, in the case of such other establishments, at the rate of eleven dollars ($11.00) per month for each such other establishment. The charges imposed under this section shall be billed with the statement rendered for water and sewer charges. 2. That Section 16-65 City of Portsmouth, Virginia to read as follows: (a) and (b) of the Code of the (1988), be amended and reordained Section 16-65. Rates for standard containers. (a) Where garbage and refuse are stored in thirty-two (32) gallon containers or properly sealed plastic or polyethylene refuse bags, the charge for each two month period shall be based upon the volume of refuse normally generated for the particular class of business, and the rate charged for service shall be as follows: Collections per week Standard containers per collection Minimum charge bi-monthly 1 0 to 4 $ 11.00 2 0 to 4 22.00 2 5 to 8 44.00 2 9 to 12 66.00 (b) Where garbage and refuse are stored in automated 65- or 10S-gallon refuse containers the charge for each month shall be based upon the volume of refuse normally generate~', for the particular class of business and the rate shall be as follows:
