Sec. 22-324. Driving on sidewalk. <br /> <br /> Subject to Section 32-25 of this Code, no person shall <br />drive any vehicle other than (i) an emergency vehicle, as <br />defined in Section 22-11, (ii) a vehicle engaged in snow or ice <br />removal and control operations, (iii) a wheel chair or wheel <br />chair conveyance, whether self-propelled or otherwise or (iv) a <br />bicycle on the sidewalks of the city. <br /> <br />Sec. 22-348. Driving while license suspended or revoked. <br /> <br /> (a) Except as otherwise provided in Section 22-428 of <br />this chapter and Sections 46.2-304 and 46.2-357 of the Code of <br />Virginia, no person whose driver's license or learner's permit <br />or privilege to drive a motor vehicle has been suspended or <br />revoked or who has been directed not to drive by any court or <br />by the commissioner of the state department of motor vehicles <br />or by operation of law pursuant to the provisions of this <br />chapter, title 46.2 of the Code of Virginia, or any similar law <br />or regulation or who has been forbidden as prescribed by law by <br />the commissioner of the state department of motor vehicles, the <br />state corporation commission, the commonwealth transportation <br />commissioner, any court, or the superintendent of state police <br />to operate a motor vehicle in the Commonwealth shall thereafter <br />drive any motor vehicle or any self-propelled machinery or <br />equipmen5 on any highway in this city unless and until the <br />period of such suspension or revocation shall have terminated. <br />For the purposes of this section, the phrase "motor vehicle or <br />any self-propelled machinery or equipment" shall not include <br />mopeds. <br /> <br /> (b) Any person violating this section shall, for the <br />first offense, be guilty of a Class 2 misdemeanor and for the <br />second or any subsequent offense shall be guilty of a Class 1 <br />misdemeanor. In addition, the court shall suspend or revoke <br />such person's license, permit or privilege to drive for the <br />same period for which it had been previously suspended or <br />revoked when such person violated this section. <br /> <br /> (c) In the event such person has violated this section by <br />driving during a period of suspension or revocation which was <br />not for a definite period of time, the court shall suspend such <br />person's license, permit or privilege to drive for an <br />additional period not to exceed ninety (90) days. Any <br />additional suspension ordered under the provisions of this <br />section shall commence upon the expiration of the previous <br />suspensions or revocation unless such previous suspension or <br />revocation has expired prior to the ordering of an additional <br />suspension or revocation. <br /> <br /> <br />
