AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CF~PTER 22 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF <br />PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA (1988), BY AMENDING SECTION 22-574(c) <br />THEREOF, PERTAINING TO MOTOR VEHICLES AND TRAFFIC. <br /> <br /> BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia: <br /> <br /> 1. That Section 22-574(c) of the Code of the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia (1988), be amended and reordained to read <br />as follows: <br /> <br />Section 22-574. Removal, storage of vehicles unlawfully <br /> parked on private property. <br /> <br /> (c) In the event of such removal and storage, the owner <br />of the vehicle involved shall be chargeable with and such <br />vehicle may be held for a reasonable charge for its removal and <br />storage. However, if the owner or representative or agent of <br />the owner of the trespassing vehicle is present and removes the <br />trespassing vehicle from the premises before it is actually <br />towed, the trespassing vehicle shall not be towed, the <br />trespassing vehicle shal~ not be towed, but the owner or <br />representative or agent of the owner of the trespassing vehicle <br />shall be liable for a fee of twenty-five dollars ($25.00), in <br />lieu of towing. <br /> <br />2.
