28 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, <br />VIRGINIA, AMENDING THE ARTICLES OF INCORPORATION OF THE SPORTS <br />AUTHORITY OF HAMPTON ROADS, VIRGINIA. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, by concurring resolutions adopted by the Councils <br />of the Cities of Hampton, Newport News, Portsmouth, Norfolk, <br />Virginia Beach, Chesapeake and Suffolk, Virginia, and the Board <br />of Supervisors of Isle of Wight County, Virginia (collectively <br />the "Participating Political Subdivisions"), The Sports <br />Authority of Hampton Roads, Virginia, (the "Authority") was <br />created pursuant to the Public Recreational Facilities <br />Authorities Act, Chapter 29, Title 15.1-1271, et seq. (the <br />"Act"); and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Participating Political Subdivisions desire, <br />by adoption of concurring resolutions, to amend the Articles of <br />Incorporation of the Authority to reflect the current principal <br />office of the Authority and to modify the purposes of the <br />Authority to include undertaking multiple projects as <br />hereinafter set forth; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA: <br /> <br /> 1. Paragraph 1 of the Articles of Incorporation of the <br />Authority is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> <br />The name of the authority is THE SPORTS <br />AUTHORITY OF HAMPTON ROADS, VIRGINIA, and the <br />address of its principal office is The Regional <br />Building, 723 Woodlake Drive, Chesapeake, <br />Virginia 23320, or such other place as the <br />Commissioners of the Authority shall establish, <br />from time to time, by written notice to each <br />member of the Commission and to the Clerk of the <br />governing body of each Participating Political <br />Subdivision." <br /> <br /> 2. Paragraph 5 of the Articles of Incorporation of the <br />Authority is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> <br />The Sports Authority of Hampton Roads, Virginia, <br />is created for the acquisition, construction, <br />equipping, financing, maintaining and /or <br />operating of one or more "projects" as defined in <br />the Public Recreational Facilities Authorities <br />Act, Chapter 29, Title 15.1, Code of Virginia of <br />1950, as amended (Section 15.1-1271, et seq.), <br />as the members of the Commission of the <br />Authority may, from time to time, by resolution, <br />undertake." <br /> <br /> <br />
