17 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION APPOINTING VIEWERS FOR THE CLOSING OF A PORTION OF <br />DUCHESS ROAD, AS BOUNDED BY VIRGINIA AVENUE ~ AN ALLEY LYING <br />BETWEEN VIRGINIA AVENUE AND CHAUTAUQUA AVENUE. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Guy W. Drake, Jr., and Jerre G. Ashberry, have <br />made application uo vacate, close and discontinue the <br />hearinafter-described suree5, and it appearing that Notice of <br />Application and Requesu for Appointment of Viewers has been <br />advertised as required by law. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE ~T RESOLVED by the Council of the City <br />of Portsmouth, Virginia, that Roy Leinart, Thaddeus J. <br />Lawrence, Lester B. Harrington, Harry Fallon and Cornelius <br />Harding, Jr., be appointed viewers, and that John H. Mason and <br />Simon P. Arrington, be appointed alternate viewers, in the <br />event that one of the preceding viewers fail to participate. <br />Said viewers to view the hereinafter-described street and to <br />report to this Council, in writing, whether in their opinion <br />any, and if any, what inconvenience would result in vacating <br />and closing the following: <br /> <br /> ALL that portion of Duchess Road, <br />formerly known as Duke Street, and incorrectly <br />designated as Duke Road as shown on Plate 118 <br />of the records of the City Assessor for the <br />City of Portsmouth, and lying between the west <br />side of Virginia Avenue and the east side of <br />an alley 140 feet west of Virginia Avenue. <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia, at a meeting held on May 24, 1994. <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
