50 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE APPLICATION OF GIRLS INCORPORATED <br />CENTER FOR YOUTH OF SOUTHWEST HAMPTON ROADS, FOR DESIGNATION AS A <br />CHARITABLE AND BENEVOLENT ORGANIZATION WITHIN THE CONTEXT OF <br />SECTION 6 (a) (6) OF ARTICLE X OF THE CONSTITUTION OF VIRGINIA. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, in accordance with Section 30-19.04 of the Code of <br />Virginia, 1950, as amended, the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Vircln!a ~held a Public Hearing on Tuesday, December 13, 1994, to <br />consider the application for exemption from Eaxes filed on behalf <br />of Girl's Incorporation Center for Youth of Southwest Hampton <br />Roads, for real properEy located at 5851 Portsmouth Boulevard, <br />Portsmouth, Virginia, and used by the applicant exclusively for <br />charitable and benevolent purposes on a non-profit basis as see <br />forth in Section 58.1-3650 of the Code of Virginia, 1950, as <br />amended; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virgmnza has <br />examined and considered the provisions of Section 30-19.04 (B) of <br />the Code of Virginia, 1950, as amended, with respecu to the <br />petition of Girl's Incorporated Center for Youth of Southwest <br />Hampton Roads. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia, supports the request of Girl's Incorporated <br />Center for Youth of Southwest Hampton Roads, a non-profit <br />organization, for designation as a charitable and benevolent <br />organization within the context of Section 6 (a) (6) of Article X <br />of the Constitution of Virginia and that its real properuy located <br />at 5851 Portsmouth Boulevard, in the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, <br />owned by it and used by it exclusively for charitable and <br />benevolent purposes on a non-profit basis, be determined to be <br />exempt from taxation in accordance with Section 58.1-3650 et seq., <br />of the Code of Virginia, 1950, as amended. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk be, and she hereby <br />is, directed to forward copies of this Resolution to State Senators <br />L. Louise Lucas and Frederick M. Quayle and Delegates Kenneth R. <br />Melvin and William S.
