CITY OF PORTSMOUTH <br />CLASSIFICATION AND PAY PLAN <br /> <br />SECTION 1. THE PERSONNEL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM <br /> <br />It is the policy of the City of Portsmouth that a fair and <br />uniform personnel managemen5 sysuem be established for its <br />employees in order to ensure the most effective delivery of <br />services ~o the cit!zens of Portsmouth. Under the direction of the City <br />Manager, the Director of Personnel is responsible for the daily <br />administration of the Classification and Pay Plan. <br /> <br />SECTION 2. DEFINITIONS <br /> <br />The Position Classification Plan is the City's approved <br />system of grouping positions into appropriate classes, and <br />includes the Alphabetical Listing of Job Titles and the <br />rules for administration. <br /> <br />For position classification purposes, a position is a group <br />of currently assigned duties and responsibilities requiring <br />the full or part-time employment of one person. A position <br />may be occupied or vacanu. <br /> <br /> <br />
