R-96-51 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION GRANTING AUTHORITY TO THE CITY MANAGER TO CONVEY A <br />PORTION OF THE ABANDONED CSX RAILROAD RIGHT-OF-WAY IN <br />CHURCHLAND TO THE INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY OF THE CITY <br />OF PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Portsmouth, Virginia is the owner of <br />the former CSX Railroad right-of-way which lies in the <br />Churchland area of the City, running northerly boundary of the <br />City of Chesapeake to the eastern boundary of the City of <br />Suffolk; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, a portion of said right-of-way lies adjacent to <br />the old Churchland High School site, which the City hopes to <br />develop in the near future; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it is deemed necessary to convey a portion of <br />said right-of-way to the Industrial Developmenn Authority of <br />the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, in order to facilitate such <br />development. <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia, that the City Manager be, and he hereby is, granted <br />authority to convey to the Industrial DevelopmenutAuthority of <br />the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that portion of the abandoned <br />CSX railroad right-of-way lying in the City of Portsmouth, from <br />its point of intersection with the northern boundary of the <br />City of Chesapeake to a point 200 feet south of the southern <br />right- of-way line of High Street West. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager be, and he <br />hereby is authorized to execute such other documents and plats <br />as he may deem necessary to the appropriate use of said right- <br />of-way, as he finds to be in the best interest of the City of <br />Portsmouth. <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia, at a meeting held on October 15, 1996. <br /> <br /> Teste: <br /> <br /> <br /> City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
