R-96-50 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION APPROVING AMENDMENT NO. 27 TO THE CRAWFORD <br />CONSERVATION AND REDEVELOPMENT PLAN FOR THE CRAWFORD URBAN <br />RENEWAL PROJECT. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Council by resolution adopted August 1, <br />1967, approved a Conservation and Redevelopment Plan for the <br />Crawford Urban Renewal Project, Portsmouth, Virginia (Plan); <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, there has been presented to this body for <br />consideration and approval, a copy of an amended Plan for the <br />proiect area; which Plan consists of 18 pages and 4 exhibits <br />(Amendment No. 27); and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Amendment No. 27 proposes to designate additional <br />properties as "To Be Acquired"; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Council is cognizant of the conditions that <br />are imposed by the provisions of the Housing and Community <br />Development Act of 1974, as amended, including those <br />prohibiting discrimination because of race, age, color, <br />religion, familial status, handicap, sex or national origin; <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, in the judgment of this Council, it is in the <br />interest of the City and its inhabitants that the said <br />Amendment be approved. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City <br />of Portsmouth, Virginza: <br /> <br />1. That regarding Amendment No. 27, it is hereby found: <br /> <br /> (a) That the objectives of the Crawford Urban <br />Renewal Project, Portsmouth, Virginia, can be better achieved <br />by the adoption of said Amendment to the Plan. <br /> <br /> (b) That Amendment No. 27 meets the requirements of <br />a plan for an urban renewal project pursuant to Chapter 1 of <br />Title 36 of the Code of Virginia, 1950, as amended. <br /> <br /> 2. That Amendment No. 27, having been duly reviewed and <br />considered, is hereby approved and adopted and the City Clerk <br />is hereby directed to file a copy of said Amendment with the <br />minutes of this meeting. <br /> <br /> <br />
