AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 16 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF <br />PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA (1988) BY AMENDING SECTIONS 16-64, <br />16-65{a) AND (b), AND 16-66(b) AND (c) THEREOF, PERTAINING TO <br />GARBAGE AND REFUSE. <br /> <br /> BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia: <br /> <br /> 1. That Sections 16-64, 16-65(a) and (b), and 16-66(b) <br />and (c) of the Code of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia (1988) <br />be amended and reordained to read as follows: <br /> <br />Sec. 16-64. Rates for dwelling units and certain <br /> other establishments. <br /> <br /> The service charge for the collection and disposal of <br />trash and garbage from any dwelling unit and any other <br />establishment not subject to the charges imposed by section <br />16-65 shall be at the rate of $15.00 per month per dwelling <br />unit or, in the case of such other establishments, at the rate <br />of $15.00 per month for each such other establishment. The <br />charges imposed under this section shall be billed with the <br />statement rendered for water and sewer charges. <br /> <br />Sec. 16-65. Rates for standard containers. <br /> <br /> (a) Where garbage and refuse are stored in 32-gallon <br />containers or in properly sealed plastic or polyethylene refuse <br />bags, the charge for each two-month period shall be based upon <br />the volume of refuse normally generated for the particular <br />class of business, and the rate charged for service shall be as <br />follows: <br /> Standard Minimum <br />Collections Containers Charge <br />per week per Collection Bi-Monthly <br /> <br />1 0 to 4 $ 15.00 <br />2 0 to 4 30.00 <br />2 5 to 8 60.00 <br />2 9 to 12 $ 90.00 <br /> <br /> (b) Where garbage and refuse are stored in automated 65- <br />or 105-gallon refuse containers, the charge for each month <br />shall be based upon the volume of refuse normally generated for <br />the particular class of business, and the rate shall be as <br />follows: <br /> <br /> <br />
