k. K-9 Corps Any sworn officer of the Police Department assigned to the K-9 Corps shall be allowed an hour's pay per day for canine care and maintenance. This time will be reflected as hours worked and be paid at the officer's hourly rate. On working days these duties will be performed within the scheduled hours. When the canine is housed at the canine facility, the officer will receive no compensation for those days. SECTION 7. COMPLEMENTS OF FIRE AND POLICE DEPARTMENTS The authorized complement of the Fire Department shall be one Chief, one Deputy Chief, seven Battalion Chiefs, thirty-three Captains, forty-one Lieutenants, and one hundred Ewenty-eight Firefighters, for a total sworn complement of two hundred eleven. The authorized complement of the Police Department shall be one Chief, one Assistant Chief, four Captains, thirteen Lieutenants, twenty-seven Sergeants, and two hundred and three Police Officers, for a total sworn complement of two hundred forty-nine. SECTION 8. SALARIES FOR UNCLASSIFIED POSITIONS The annual salary rates of the following unclassified positions shall be the amounu stated herein: City Manager $101,970 City Attorney $ 92,700 City Assessor $ 72,807 City Clerk $ 55,680 Mayor $ 20,000 Council Member $ 18,000 In addition to the base salary, the City Manager is hereby authorized the following: $6,000 car allowance; $3,600 general expenses and $1,704 for health insurance. The City Attorney, in addition to his base salary, is auuhorized the following: $2,280 in family health insurance. SECTION 9. ADJUSTMENTS TO RETIREMENT ALLOWANCES The adjustments of retirement allowances as prescribed in Sections 30-122 and 30-243 of the Code of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, (1988) shall be a 3% supplement based on their current base pension. -9-
