c. A class is a group of positions (or one position) that has <br /> similar duties and responsibilities, requires like qualifi- <br /> cations, and can be equitably compensated by the same salary <br /> range. <br /> <br />d. The class title is the official designation or name of the <br /> class as stated in the Alphabetical Listing of Job Titles. <br /> It shall be used on all personnel records and actions. <br /> <br />e. The position code number is the five-digit number which <br /> identifies a group of occupational classes by EEO Code, the <br /> department, and the specific position. A list of position <br /> code numbers will be maintained in the Department of Per- <br /> sonnel with the official copy of the Position Classification <br /> Plan. <br /> <br />SECTION 3. POSITION CLASSIFICATION PLAN <br /> <br />All officers and regular full-time and regular part-time <br />employees of the City shall be classified and graded. The com- <br />pensation of each classified employee shall be determined accord- <br />ing to the Salary Schedule portion and other sections of this <br />ordinance. The City Manager may authorize variations in the <br />application of this section, and may make adjustments as needed. <br /> <br />a. Unclassified Positions <br /> <br /> Unclassified positions shall consist of: <br /> <br /> (1) Officials elected by the citizens and persons appointed <br /> to fill positions within the elective offices. <br /> <br /> (2) The members of boards and commissions, the City Manager, <br /> the City Clerk, the City Attorney, the City Real Estate <br /> Assessor, and persons appointed by judges of the Circuit <br /> Court; <br /> <br /> (3) Employees of the School Board; <br /> <br /> (4) Persons temporarily employed in a professional or <br /> scientific capacity or to conduct a special inquiry, <br /> investigation, examinantion, or installation, if the <br /> Council or the Manager certifies than such employment is <br /> temporary and than the work should not be performed by <br /> employees in the classified positions. <br /> <br />b. Classified Positions <br /> <br /> Classified positions shall be comprised of all employees, <br /> officers, and positions not specifically designated in the <br /> preceding section as unclassified. <br /> <br /> -2- <br /> <br /> <br />
