R-97-52 A RESOLUTION APPROVING AMENDMENT NO. 8 TO THE MOUNT HERMON CONSERVATION AND REDEVELOPMENT PLAN FOR THE MOUNT HERMON CONSERVATION AND REDEVELOPMENT PROJECT. WHEREAS, this Council, by resolution adopted September 12, 1972, approved a Conservation and Redevelopment Plan for the Mount Hermon Conservation and Redevelopment Project, Portsmouth, Virginia (Plan); and WHEREAS, there has been presented to this body for consideration and approval, a copy of an amended Plan for the project area; and WHEREAS, Amendment No. 8 proposes to designate additional properties as "To Be Acquired"; and WHEREAS, this Council is cognizant of the conditions that are imposed by the provisions of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974, as amended, including those prohibiting discrimination because of race, age, color, religion, familial status, handicap, sex or national origin; and WHEREAS, in the judgment of this Council, it is in the interest of the City and its inhabitants that the said Amendment be approved. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia: 1. That regarding Amendment No. 8 to the Conservation and Redevelopment Project, it is hereby found: (a) That the objectives of the Mount Hermon Conservation and Redevelopment Project, Portsmouth, Virginia, can be better achieved by the adoption of said Amendment to the plan. (b) That Amendment No. 8 meets the requirements of a plan for a conservation and redevelopment project pursuant to Chapter 1 of Title 36 of the Code of Virginia, 1950, as amended. 2. That Amendment No. 8 to the Mount Hermon Conservation and Redevelopment Plan for the Mount Hermon Conservation and Redevelopment Project, having been duly reviewed and considered, is hereby approved and adopted and the City Clerk is hereby directed to file a copy of said Amendment with the minutes of this meeting.
