R-97-35 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION APPROVING AMENDMENT NO. VII TO THE MOUNT HERMON <br />CONSERVATION AND REDEVELOPMENT PLAN FOR THE MOUNT HERMON <br />CONSERVATION AND REDEVELOPMENT PROJECT. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Council by resolution adopted September 12, <br />1972, approved a Conservation and Redevelopment Plan for the <br />Mount Hermon Conservation and Redevelopment Project, Portsmouth <br />Virginia ("Plan"); and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, there has been presented to this body for <br />consideration and approval, a copy of the proposed Amendment <br />No. VII to the Plan the ("Amendment"), which consists of 30 <br />pages and 3 exhibits; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Amendment No. VII proposes to change the land use <br />of the property located at 843 and 847 Mt. Vernon Avenue, <br />Portsmouth, Virginia (Tax Plate 154, Parcel 33 and 34) as shown <br />on the Land Use Map, Exhibit No. 2 uo the Plan, from <br />residential no industrial; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, he Portsmouth Redevelopmenn and Housmng Authority <br />has resolved that this Amendment is mn the best interest of the <br />City's redevelopment effort and has recommended its adoption by <br />this Council; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Council is cognizant of the conditions that <br />are imposed by the provisions of the Housing and Community <br />Development Act of 1974, as amended, including those <br />prohibiting discrimination because of race, age, color, creed, <br />sex or national origin, or handicap or familial status; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Council has held a public hearing regarding <br />the Amendment after proper Notice; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, in the judgment of this Council it is in the <br />interest of the City and its inhabitants that the said <br />Amendment be approved. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City <br />of Portsmouth, Virginia; <br /> <br /> 1. That it is hereby found: <br /> <br /> (a) That the objectives of the Mount Hermon <br /> Conservation and Redevelopment Project, Portsmouth, <br /> Virginia, can be better achieved by the adoption of <br /> said Amendment to the Plan. <br /> <br /> (b) That Amendment No. VII of the Plan meets the <br /> requirements of a plan for a conversation and <br /> redevelopment project pursuant to Chapter 1 of Title <br /> 36 of the Code of Virginia, 1950, as amended; and <br /> <br /> <br />
