R-98-22 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE LEASE OF HARBOR COURT PARKING <br />GARAGE TO THE PORTSMOUTH PARKING AUTHORITY. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS the City owns a parking garage known as the Harbor Court Garage (the <br />"Parking Garage"), located generally adjacent to the north of an inlet known variously as the <br />Portside Inlet, the North Harbor, and Crawford Harbor; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS the Portsmouth Parking Authority (the "Parking Authority") was created as a <br />political subdivision of the Commonwealth of Virginia by 1964 Acts of the General Assembly, <br />Chapter 351, for the purpose of providing and operating parking facilities in the City of <br />Portsmouth; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS the Parking Garage is presently leased to the Portsmouth Redevelopment and <br />Housing Authority (the "Housing Authority") pursuant to a 1980 lease, and that lease is about to <br />be terminated due to a refinancing; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS it is in the public interest that the Parking Garage be operated by the Parking <br />Authority; <br /> <br /> WHEREAS the Housing Authority is fully agreeable to having the Parking Garage <br />operated by the Parking Authority; and <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia, that <br /> <br /> The City Manager is authorized and directed to execute and deliver to the Parking <br />Authority a thirty-year lease of the Parking Garage generally consistent with the terms of the <br />attached Lease. <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, at a meeting held on April <br />28, 1998. <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
