R-98-32 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A <br />CERTIFICATE OF COMPLIANCE CONCERNING THE VIRGINIA JUVENILE <br />COMMUNITY CRIME CONTROL ACT. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the 1995 Session of the General Assembly enacted legislation <br />entitled "the Virginia Juvenile Community Crime Control Act" ("the Act"); and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, state funds are available to localities under the Act, but only upon a <br />certification of the locality willingness to participate and comply with the requirements <br />of the Act; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, through the judges of the Juvenile and Domestic Relations District <br />Court and the Juvenile Court Services Unit, the City of Portsmouth has developed a plan, <br />which is administered through the Tidewater Regional Group Home Commission and <br />which addresses a range of programs, services and sanctions for youth involved in the <br />juvenile justice system. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia, that the City Manager is authorized to execute and deliver to the <br />appropriate official of the Commonwealth of Virginia, on behalf of the City, a certificate <br />of compliance with all of the requirements for funding under the Virginia Juvenile <br />Community Crime Control Act. <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, at a meeting held on <br />July 28, 1998. <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
