AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 38 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF <br />PORTSMOTH, VIRGINIA (1988) BY AMENDING SECTIONS 38-85 AND 38- <br />117(a) THEREOF, PERTAINING TO WATER METER AND SEWAGE <br />DISPOSAL RATES. <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia: <br /> <br /> 1. That Sections 38-83 and 38-117(a) of the Code of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia (1988) be amended and reordained to read as follows: <br /> <br />Sec. 38-83. Meter Rates for water supplied. <br /> <br /> (a) For all water which passes through meters, customers within the corporate <br />limits of the city shall pay two dollars and fifty cents ($2.50) per one thousand (1,000) <br />gallons or one dollar and eighty-seven and three thousandths cents ($1.8703), per one <br />hundred (100) cubic feet of water supplied. <br /> <br /> (b) For all water which passes through meters, customers of the City of <br />Chesapeake who are served by Portsmouth and whose rates are not set by contract shall <br />pay three dollars and seventy-five cents ($3.75) per one thousand (1,000) gallons or two <br />dollars and eighty and fifty-four thousandths cents ($2.8054), per one hundred (100) <br />cubic feet of water supplied. <br /> <br /> (c) For all water which passes through meters to the City of Chesapeake pursuant <br />contract, the City of Chesapeake shall pay: <br /> <br /> (1) For the first three (3) million gallons per day of water supplied during <br />a billing period three dollars and seventy-five cents ($3.75) per one thousand (1,000) <br />gallons or two dollars and eighty and fifty-four thousandths cents ($2.8054), per one <br />hundred (100) cubic feet of water supplied. <br /> <br /> (2) For the amount of water supplied during a billing period in excess of <br />three (3) million gallons per day, three dollars ($3.00) per one thousand (1,000) gallons <br />or two dollars and twenty-four forty-three thousandths cents ($2.2443), per one hundred <br />(I00) cubic feet of water supplied. <br /> <br /> (d) For all water which passes through meters to the City of Suffolk pursuant to <br />contract, the City of Suffolk shall pay two dollars and twenty-me and eighteen <br />thousandths cents ($2.2918) cents per one thousand (1,000) gallons or one dollar and <br />seventy-one and forty-five thousandths ceres ($1.7145), per one hundred (100) cubic feet <br />of water supplied. <br /> <br />Sec. 38-117.
