AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 13 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF <br />PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA (1988) BY ENACTING A NEW ARTICLE H, <br />DIVISION 3 THERETO TO ESTABLISH FEES FOR EMERGENCY MEDICAL <br />AMBULANCE SERVICES. <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia: <br /> <br /> 1. That Chapter 13 of the Code of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia (1988) be <br />amended by adding thereto a new Article Il, Division 3 to read as follows: <br /> <br />Article H. FIRE DEPARTMENT. <br /> <br />Division 3. Emergency Medical Ambulance Services. <br /> <br />Sec. 13-71. Definitions. <br /> <br /> For purposes of this Article, evaluation, treatment, and ambulance transport <br />services shall be as defined and employed by the United States Health Care Financing <br />Administration and any successor thereto: The term "health care facilities" is defined to <br />include, but not be limited to, hospitals, nursing homes, advanced care facilities, <br />psychiatric facilities, ont-patient care facilities, minor emergency care centers, physicians' <br />offices or any other facility where licensed or certified health care professionals are <br />routinely present and provide medical treatment for patients. <br /> <br />Sec. 13-72. Fees; responsibility for payment. <br /> <br /> Payment of all charges for ambulance services, including evaluation, treatment or <br />ambulance transport, established in this division shall be the responsibility of the patient <br />or the parent, guardian, or other legally responsible party in the case of a minor or an <br />incompetent. <br /> <br />Sec. 13-73. Fees established. <br /> <br /> The following fees are established for ambulance services, including evaluation, <br />treatment, and ambulance transport: <br /> <br />(a) Non-emergency incident response and ambulance transport with Basic <br /> Life Support services .................................................. $200.00 <br /> <br />(b) Emergency incident response and ambulance transport with Basic Life <br /> Support services.......................................................... $288.00 <br /> <br />(c) Non-emergency incident response and ambulance transport with <br /> Advanced Life Support Level 1 services ........................ $217.00 <br /> <br />
