AN ORDINANCE CLOSING AND VACATING PORTIONS OF GRIFFIN STREET <br />AND NOTTAWAY AVENUE. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Portsmouth, Virginia and the School Board of the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia, have made application to close a portions of Griffin Street and Nottaway <br />Avenue, as hereafter described: and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Planning Commission, at a meeting held on November 7, 2000, <br />recommended approval of the closure and vacation of said portions of Griffin Street and <br />Nottaway Avenue; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, notice of the proposed closure and vacation has been given the adjoining <br />property owners in accordance with Section 15.2-2006 of the Code of Virginia, as amended. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia that portions of Griffin Street and Nottaway Avenue be closed and vacated as a public <br />streets and rights of way as follows: <br /> <br />GRIFFIN STREET <br /> <br /> All that certain portion of Griffin Street, lying and situate in the <br />City of Portsmouth, Virginia, from its point of intersection with the west <br />right of way line of Rodman Avenue to the point where said street intersects <br />with the eastern line of Lot 17, in Block 76, as shown on the plat of Virginia <br />Realty and Investment Company, as recorded in the Clerk's Office of the Circuit <br />Court of the City of Chesapeake in Map Book 4, at page 93. <br /> <br />NOTTAWAY STREET <br /> <br /> All that certain portion of Nottaway Avenue, lying situate in the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia, from its point of intersection with the north right of way line of <br />Race Street to its point of intersection with the southern right of way line of Clifford <br />Street. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that the City. of Portsmouth hereby reserves an <br />easement in the portions of Griffin Street and Nottaway Avenue hereby closed and vacated for <br />the installation, operation, maintenance and replacement of public utilities of the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia, which said easements may be released and vacated by the City Manager of <br />the City of Portsmouth as he may in his discretion deem appropriate and in the best interest of <br />the City of Portsmouth. <br /> <br /> <br />
