RESOLUTIONS 1975 <br />. <br />1. Resolution authorizing the City Manager to make application to the Virginia Commission of <br /> Outdoor Recreation for development of a park on the 35-acre tract in Merrifields (Churchland <br /> Park) <br /> <br />2. Resolution directing the City Manager to apply for a permit from the Virginia Department of <br /> Highways to install a 12" reinforced concrete storm drain in the right of way of 1-264 south of <br /> South Street between Godwin Street and Des Moines Avenue, and to sign a bond in the amount of <br /> $1,000 for said project <br /> <br />3. Resolution requesting the Virginia Department of Highways to approve the preliminary plan <br /> submitted which would relocate the Western Freeway (Route 164) to the south along West <br /> Norfolk Road <br /> <br />4. Resolution requesting that the Virginia Department of Highways and Transportation approve <br /> construction plans for the proposed West Norfolk Bridge to include a complete substructure for a <br /> 4-lane bridge, and a superstructure of steel and prestressed concrete beam for a 2-lane bridge <br /> <br />5. Resolution committing the City of Portsmouth to pay 1/3 of the salaries of the Jail Physician, <br /> Registered Nurses and pharmaceutical costs, with the Commonwealth of Virginia paying the <br /> remaining balance in compliance with normal procedures authorizing the City Manager to do <br /> whatever is necessary to meet said commitment <br /> <br />6. Resolution expressing support of Portsmouth City Council for the proposed expansion of the <br /> Naval Shipyard Museum <br /> <br />7. Resolution establishing a deferred compensation plan for certain officers of the City and <br /> authorizing the City Manager to authorize membership therein to such employees <br /> <br />8. Resolution expressing the position of City Council on the proposed new Hodges Ferry Bridge <br /> <br />9. Resolution authorizing and directing the City Manager to make application for permit for the <br /> Virginia Department of Highways to remove 318 feet of wire fence that is sued to mark the <br /> northern right of way of 1-264 between Greenwood Drive and Victory Boulevard and to sign a <br /> bond in the amount of $1,000 for the project <br /> <br />10. Resolution opposing the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers' report concerning the future of Craney <br /> Island and recommending an engineering and related technical study relative to regional harbor <br /> needs <br /> <br />11. Resolution honoring Judge Henry W. MacKenzie, Jr., on retirement after nineteen years of public <br /> service as a Judge of the Circuit Court of the City of Portsmouth <br /> <br />12. Resolution from Director of Planning regarding amendment of a Group Housing Project - <br /> Academy Park <br /> <br />13. Resolution setting forth the City position opposing the vertical expansion of Craney Island an <br /> additional twelve feet <br /> <br />14. Resolution expressing the City Council's approval of a recommendation of the project review <br /> team in reference to the conceptual design of a Human Service System <br /> <br />15. Resolution approving the amendment of the articles of incorporation of the Southeastern Water <br /> Authority of Virginia so as to change its name to Southeastern Public Service Authority of <br /> Virginia, to change the location of its principal office and to expand its purposes to include a <br /> garbage and refuse collection and disposal system and setting forth the Articles of Amendment <br /> <br />16. Resolution directing the City Manager to establish by July 1, 1975 a meet and discuss procedure <br /> with employees pertaining to wages, hours, etc., in weighing public interest during annual budget <br /> deliberations <br /> <br />17. A resolution authorizing the City Manager to enter into an agreement with the Virginia <br /> Department of Highways and Transportation for construction of a 16" water main in the <br /> approaches of the proposed West Norfolk Bridge <br /> <br />18. Resolution authorizing the Mayor and City Manager to sign a grant agreement between U. S. <br /> Department of Housing and Urban Development, PRHA and City of Portsmouth pertaining to the <br /> approved community development plan of 1975 <br /> <br />19. Resolution expressing the concern of City Council for the public safety of the residents of City of <br /> Portsmouth and Tidewater resulting from recent escapes from City Jail by dangerous prisoners <br /> <br />20. Resolution expressing the concern of City Council over repeated requests for increased rates by <br /> public utilities, etc. <br /> <br /> <br />
